In partnership with WasteAid and financial support from Dow's REFLEX project, Alfanar is launching its first SEED cycle for social enterprises working in the field of plastic recycling, especially those in flexible / PE plastic waste (Polyethylene plastic waste). 

We invite ambitious social enterprises or local NGOs in Egypt working in this space to apply. Following shortlisting and pitching to a judges' panel, three eligible social enterprises / NGOs will be selected to take part in a six-month, high-engagement management support and customised training programme designed to help scale impact, strengthen operations and grow financial sustainability. 

Upon completion, successful finalists will receive 200,000 EGP financial support.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Operating a social enterprise / local NGO improving lives in disadvantaged communities and implementing innovative, effective environmental sustainability strategies in the field of plastic prevention and recycling [ideally operating for a minimum of 2 years]
  • Running or growing a self-generated revenue model [sale of goods and services] that aims to achieve financial sustainability beyond grants and donations 
  • Headed by an ambitious chief executive and strong management team 
  • Aspiring to scale impact beyond current reach 
  • Open and interested in receiving transformative technical assistance and management support 
  • Registered under Egyptian law; individuals are not eligible
