This year’s Charity Awards brought together some of the most impactful organisations in the UK — and we were honoured to be among them.
Alfanar was recognised as a finalist in the International Aid & Development category for our work providing catalytic funding to social entrepreneurs across the Arab region.
Awards judge Richard Hawkes, CEO at the British Asian Trust, praised Alfanar’s work as “an absolutely brilliant development practice." Shane Ryan, Senior Adviser to the National Lottery Community Fund, said that Alfanar's "patient capital approach ,combined with intensive capacity-building, represents a thoughtful intervention strategy that builds sustainable solutions rather than creating dependency."
The awards were attended by Alfanar's Advisor and Former Trustee Charlotte Boyle, Communication Manager Sara Lobo, Portfolio Manager Suha Hallab, and Impact Manager Mohammed Al Radi.
Although we did not take home the award, it was a privilege to stand alongside so many nonprofit leaders driving locally-led change. Congratulations to Oxfam International for winning in our category, and to all the award winners!
