Across the Arab region, organisations are expanding access to opportunity every day.

They are supporting children's education in contexts where schooling has been disrupted or inaccessible. Creating employment and income-generation opportunities for women and young people. Preserving heritage and responding to climate challenges with the knowledge, determination and ingenuity that have long defined our region.

Our 2025 Annual Report reflects on a year of standing behind those organisations with the long-term funding, training, strategic guidance and connections they need to grow.

In 2025, Alfanar supported 53 social enterprises across Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, deploying more than £1 million in funding alongside hands-on support so they can increase their impact on communities that need it the most.

The organisations we supported:

  • Increased their social impact (73%)
  • Increased their self-generated income (65%)
  • Directly impacted 29,466 people across the Arab region
  • Delivered programmes supporting women, youth, children, refugee communities and people with disabilities

Half of the organisations we backed were women-led and more than half were youth-led – reflecting who is building change and shaping the future of our region every day.

Alongside direct support, we continued to enable the wider ecosystem through knowledge sharing, partnerships, workshops and convenings – creating opportunities for organisations to learn from one another and collaborate across borders. The report also shares what 2025 taught us about where our support goes furthest and where we can continue to deepen our approach.

As we continue our work in 2026, Growing What Works celebrates the organisations, founders and communities driving change across our region.
