Aqaba Gate is putting Jordan’s port city on the green map. What began with a visit to a factory overwhelmed by textile waste has grown into a pioneering recycling model that converts discarded textiles into raw materials used by more than 100 industries.

The social enterprise has already recycled 5 percent of Aqaba’s total textile waste and created green jobs for vulnerable women, who make up 75 percent of their workforce. After studying and adapting technologies from 11 European countries, they built a model rooted in local needs — and designed for regional relevance.

Through the EU-funded programme From Innovation to Creation, implemented by SPARK and Alfanar, Aqaba Gate strengthened its measurement systems, sharpened its operational model, and is now better positioned to scale its environmental and economic impact across Jordan and beyond.
