Social enterprise investee Robotna is revolutionising ed-tech

Alfanar Venture Philanthropy, with support from RDPP III, has progressed Robotna to its long-term investment cycle to support ed-tech solutions for students in Jordan and beyond.

Robotna is a pioneering social enterprise that provides education, training and job placements in STEM to over 20,000 learners across the region, with a focus on creating opportunities for women and girls. This includes free robotics courses and workshops for underprivileged students, and competitions like the highly-popular Innovation Nation.

Alfanar began working with Robotna in 2020 to help them develop a long-term, strategic impact model during COVID-19. Now, we will be helping Robotna further scale their impact and financial sustainability.

In addition to funding, our venture philanthropy support includes:

  • Impact measurement
  • Management and reporting
  • Strengthening financial management and governance

Robotna CEO Jaser Alharasees said: "Alfanar's investment represents a transformative milestone for Robotna, fueling our next phase of growth and innovation, and setting the stage for unprecedented expansion and impact.”

Our investment will be focused on growing Robotna’s capabilities to provide training to local and refugee youth in Jordan in order to secure sustainable job placements. This includes strengthening the Robotna+ programme, which provides graduates with intensive training and places them into jobs.

Through this investment, we are advancing SDGs 4 (quality education) and 8 (decent work and economic growth).

“STEM education continues to be a challenging sector in the region, and Robotna is working to bridge the gap in both learning and gender equality,” said Suha Abdul Rahim, Alfanar’s Jordan and Palestine Director. “We are particularly impressed by Robotna’s commitment to building pathways from education to employment opportunities, and look forward to continuing to support their innovation and impact.”
