July brought fresh energy to Alfanar’s work — from new enterprises in Jordan to global recognition for Arab innovation.

In Jordan, we welcomed four new enterprises to our catalytic SUSTAIN portfolio:

  • Through the ASPIRE-VP programme (funded by RDPP), KUVRD is scaling its sustainable fashion rooted in Tatreez and Hadab heritage, while AlFarouq Charity Association is launching the Rakiza Centre, a hub for youth and women’s vocational training and employment.
  • Under the Building Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods programme (co-funded by the European Union in partnership with DRC and JOHUD), Alefredo EdTech is making learning resources and teacher training more affordable, and Baraka Destinations is pioneering community tourism that keeps revenue in local hands.

Meanwhile, our SEED enterprise OrganicG brought farmers in Naour together for a workshop on recycling farm waste into organic fertiliser — training that help cut costs by up to 80% while promoting sustainable practice.

Collaboration and learning were also in motion. On 7 July, our SEED enterprises from Lebanon and Jordan met online for a regional exchange session, while our Aspire-VP SEED cohort participated in a hands-on training session on impact measurement.

In Egypt, new long-term grantee WMC collected 3,800 tonnes of recyclables in just six months, preventing more than 11,700 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. And in Kenya, Flowless took the stage at the Water & Sanitation International Conference, outlining how its water-tech solution can optimise water efficiency for farmers and utilities in Kenya and beyond.

July’s highlights show that with sustained support, innovative solutions can grow, cross borders, and generate systemic change.
