Through Alfanar’s SUSTAIN programme, Jordanian social enterprise KUVRD travelled to Frankfurt in April 2026 to attend Techtextil and Texprocess – connecting with global suppliers, partners, and conversations shaping the future of sustainable fashion.

KUVRD is a fashion-forward social enterprise that bridges cultural heritage with economic opportunity. Through apparel, accessories, and homeware, the enterprise blends modern design with traditional crafts such as Tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) and Hadab (Jordanian threading), while creating fair-wage opportunities for women, refugees, and youth artisans in Jordan.

As demand for KUVRD’s work continues to grow across North America and the GCC, the market exploration trip focused on exploring sustainable materials, strengthening supply chains, and identifying production partnerships that align with the enterprise’s values and long-term growth.

For Founder Seevana Hawari, the experience reinforced that KUVRD’s approach to fashion is part of a much larger global movement:

“My time at Techtextil in Frankfurt was honestly so inspiring. Being there in person, seeing the innovations up close, and having real conversations with people in the industry made everything feel exciting. What stood out most was how much the conversation around sustainability, craftsmanship, and innovation aligns with what we’re building at KUVRD. It reinforced the importance of creating pieces that are not only thoughtfully designed, but also culturally rooted and responsibly made.”

For Alfanar, this kind of exposure is an important part of supporting social enterprises to scale sustainably. Growth is not only about expanding sales – it is also about helping founders strengthen operations, build resilient supply chains, and connect local craftsmanship to global markets without losing the identity and values that make their work distinctive.

Alfanar's Business Development & Partnerships Lead, Farah Chamas, reflected: This market exploration trip with KUVRD offered such an exposure to the world of textiles and textile manufacturing. Working with our portfolio SEs closely, this deep dive alongside Seevana from KUVRD offered me an exclusive into their industry, their manufacturing process, and challenges – hoping that it will allow us to support them further whenever the opportunity arises.”

As KUVRD continues to grow, the relationships and insights developed in Frankfurt will help shape the next phase of the enterprise’s journey – strengthening how it produces, sources, and scales while staying rooted in heritage and community value creation.
