Alfanar recently brought together our grantee Life Vision for Development and project partner EBDA for a visit to Minya, strengthening collaboration under their agricultural and socioeconomic empowerment initiatives.
Through its Farmer Business School, Life Vision is equipping 1,600 women farmers with organic agricultural and social skills that are helping them to increase their income, support their families, and build confidence. At the same time, EBDA is piloting a project with 700 farmers to support their transition to organic farming — an approach that farmers told us has already reduced their expenses and raised their earnings.
For Alfanar’s Impact Officer Heba Samy, the visit was a chance to witness change at multiple levels. “I was thrilled to see the impact this initiative is having on economic empowerment, but most importantly on personal development, alongside agricultural skills,” she reflected. “One inspiring outcome was that women had started literacy classes in their community to strengthen opportunities for future generations.”
This initiative demonstrates how social enterprises can tackle economic, social and environmental challenges in ways that create lasting community impact.
