Through Alfanar Impact Management (AIM), we work closely with our social enterprises to develop bespoke, investment-specific digital apps that monitor their progress on key financial and impact metrics, ensuring that they are on track to meet investment targets and have all the information they need to change course when things aren’t working. By taking a rigorous approach to collecting measuring and analysing data, Alfanar ensures that our SEs have the insights they need to refine their models and make better management decisions. Through automation, AIM improves efficiency and reduces the burden of reporting, turning an obligation into a tool that can have significant strategic and management benefits. Alongside improving existing databases and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems, we work closely with social enterprises to develop programme-specific digital AIM dashboards. We have developed a new digital system--the Social Enterprise Progress Tracker--that our Portfolio Managers use as a core component of their management support. This tracker allows us to identify key areas requiring improvement and enables us to better target our mentorship and management support by analysing organisational development and growth, focusing on key areas such as impact management, business planning, governance, financial management, HR management and scaling.
